Dr. Sheikh directs a cardiology practice specializing in lipid management and cardiovascular disease prevention and reversal. He practices with Health First Physicians-Cardiovascular Specialists, a single specialty, cardiology practice in Brevard County, on the Space Coast of Florida.
He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is a certified clinical lipid specialist, board certified in adult echocardiography and has completed level I training in cardiac CT imaging. His clinical interests include lipid management, comprehensive preventative cardiology, cardiac imaging and invasive cardiology. He was recognized by the Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of America’s Top Cardiologists.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sheikh maintains active interests in medical administration, clinical research and teaching. He serves as Director of General Cardiology Services at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He is a faculty member of the University of Central Florida, College of Medicine. He is also the Director of Clinical Research for Brevard Cardiovascular Research Associates. He is a former Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine of Duke University. He received his MBA from Florida Institute of Technology. He has served as the principal investigator in over 100 national and international clinical research trials. He has authored over 150 scientific abstracts, peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and subject reviews.
The Medical Practice
Dr. Sheikh practices in Health First Cardiovascular Specialists, a single specialty practice on the Space Coast of Florida. It is a part of the Health First, Inc. Health Care System. The system owns and operates three hospitals, the Health First Physicians Group and the Health First Health Insurance Plan. Health First Cardiovascular Specialists provide comprehensive cardiovascular diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional services in all areas of cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Sheikh is available for ongoing care of patients who reside in central Florida with all types of cardiovascular disorders. His areas of special expertise are in the diagnosis and management of lipid disorders, preventative cardiology, congenital heart disease and cardiovascular imaging. He is also available for specific consultation and second opinions for out of area patients who desire a review of their medical care as it relates to their cardiovascular system and heart risk factors.
Dr. Sheikh has three office locations in Brevard County, Florida. He has staff privileges at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida and Viera Hospital, in Melbourne, Florida.

Clinical Services: Health First Cardiovascular Specialists provides comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional services in all aspects of cardiac care. This includes preventative cardiology, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, as well as follow-up of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, and adult congenital heart disease.
Diagnostic Services: A full spectrum of cardiovascular diagnostic services are offered at all practice locations, including; echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress testing, nuclear imaging, peripheral vascular evaluation, cardiac CAT scan imaging, pacemaker and defibrillator follow-up, and cardiac catheterization.
Therapeutic Services: The group offers expertise in electrophyisiology, pacemaker and defibrillators, arrhythmia ablation, interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular services, including stents, angioplasty and other interventional heart and vascular procedures. The interventional cardiologists have had specialized training in catheterizations through the radial (wrist) artery.
